Detention warrants issued on Monday for 25 over Gülen links

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on Monday issued detention warrants for 25 people over their alleged links to the Gülen movement, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

According to the report, 18 of the 25 have been detained in police raids across 4 provinces.

Police arrests 33 more FETÖ suspects

At least 33 people were arrested in nationwide operations over their links to the Gülenist Terrorist Group (FETÖ) yesterday.

In an investigation launched by the chief prosecutor's office in the central city of Konya, 15 people, all military officers, were arrested. They were among 70 soldiers with outstanding arrest warrants. Forty-two other suspects were arrested on March 29 in the same case. Suspects in the case include both soldiers and "imams," handlers for FETÖ. Source

Detention warrants issued on Tuesday for 85 over Gülen links

The Konya, Kırşehir and Zonguldak chief public prosecutors’ offices on Tuesday issued detention warrants for 85 people including teachers, lawyers, doctors and military members over alleged links to the faith-based Gülen movement, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

According to the report 50 of the 85 have been detained in police raids across 23 provinces.

5 Turkish educators working at Gülen schools detained in Gabon, face deportation

5 educators working at schools opened in Gabon by Turkish entrepreneurs inspired by the views of Turkish-Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen have been detained by the Gabon police and face deportation to Turkey, the tr724 news website reported on Tuesday.

The principal of the La Lumiere schools in Gabon Osman Özpınar, Pedagogy Director İbrahim Akbaş and teacher Adnan Demirönal were detained on March 15 on the grounds that they pose a threat to the national security of Gabon.

Two female teachers, whose names have not yet been released, were also detained on April 3.

The Turkish government accuses the Gülen movement, inspired by the views Gülen, of masterminding a failed coup attempt in Turkey on July 15, 2016, a claim strongly denied by the movement.

Richard Sedillot, a renowned human rights activist and lawyer representing the La Lumiere schools, said the educators have been detained as a result of political pressure from Turkey. Sedillot said the Gabon police first accused the educators of document forgery but later said they were detained for posing a threat to the country’s national security. Read the full article

Over 65 FETO suspects arrested across Turkey

Dozens of Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) suspects have been held across Turkey, according to security sources on Thursday.

In central Yozgat province, police arrested 23 on-duty soldiers after the province’s Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for 26 people for their alleged involvement in the FETO network. Police continues to search for the remaining three suspects, who are civilian members of the terror group.

Moreover, 28 FETO suspects, including on-duty soldiers, were arrested during a Gaziantep-based operation in 13 provinces and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. In another operation, counterterrorism police in central Kayseri province arrested five people for allegedly using the ByLock messaging app, an encrypted smart phone app used by the FETO members before and during the defeated coup in July 2016.

Separately, police arrested 13 people, including seven women from Corum, Eskisehir and four more provinces for using the encrypted app. Read the full article

65 sentenced to life in FETÖ coup attempt in Istanbul

A courts in Istanbul yesterday handed down aggravated life sentences and life imprisonment for 65 defendants involved in the 2016 coup attempt blamed on the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ). The defendants, all military officers, were among tens of thousands arrested after the July 15, 2016 coup attempt that killed 249 people.

In one case, the court sentenced 13 to aggravated life sentences and another two to life imprisonment for their roles in the closure of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge connecting Istanbul's European and Asian sides. Apart from the takeover of the bridge, they were accused of opening fire on a crowd of anti-coup civilians who sought to stop them, killing three people and injuring another 49 in the process. Prosecutors accused the defendants of killing Hasan Kaya, a civilian who went to the bridge to protest the coup attempt, and of Şükrü Bayrakçı, who was crushed to death by tanks. Former Antalya deputy governor among 13 suspects convicted over FETÖ links

Thirteen people, including a former deputy governor of the southern Antalya province, were convicted of being members of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and given various jail terms across Turkey on April 6.  In seven different cases in the capital Ankara in connection with a case into questions leaked ahead of the 2010 public personnel selection exam, four convicts were given six years and three months in prison for “being FETÖ members,” state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Two convicts received three years and one month in prison. They were also asked to pay a fine for committing fraud against state institutions. In a case in Antalya, former Antalya Deputy Governor Bilal Çelik was handed down seven years and six months jail term for “being a member of an armed terrorist organization.”

Separately, in the Black Sea province of Rize, five suspects were given prison sentence of three years and five months for “being members of an armed terrorist organization and helping the organization.”

In the eastern province of Erzurum, a convict who was tried on the charge of being an administrator of FETÖ’s prison and judiciary structure received a term of 15 years in jail for “establishing or managing an armed terrorist organization.” Furthermore, a convict was given seven years and six months in prison for being “a member of an armed terrorist organization.”

Also, a convict who was tried in the western Kırklareli province of being part of FETÖ’s “tradesmen structure” was sentenced to six years and three months in jail for “being a member of an armed terrorist organization,” the agency’s report read. Source

Arrest warrants for lawyers, former TRT staff 
Turkish prosecutors on April 6 issued arrest warrants for 58 people for their alleged links to FETÖ, Anadolu Agency reported, citing security sources.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutors’ Office issued arrest warrants for 38 people as part of a probe into the network and its suspected infiltration of the judiciary, according to a security source.

Police launched a nationwide operation in order to apprehend the suspects, including 13 lawyers, who are accused of being linked to the structure, the source said on the condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Meanwhile, the Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for 20 former employees of state-run broadcaster TRT on the same charges. The suspects are sought across five provinces of Ankara, Adana, Adıyaman, Hatay and Istanbul, according to the same security sources. Source

The Çankırı, Erzincan, İstanbul and Ankara chief public prosecutors’ offices on Friday issued detention warrants for 87 people including military members, lawyers and former state-run TRT workers over alleged links to the faith-based Gülen movement, the state-run Anadolu news agency and IHA reported.

14 more people detained over Gülen links

Turkish police detained 14 people as part of an investigation launched by the Bodrum Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into the faith-based Gülen movement, the pro-government Sabah daily reported on Sunday. According to the report, 14 people were preparing to leave the country illegally for Greece by way of Bodrum.

The Turkish Interior Ministry announced on Monday that 853 people have been detained in the past week due to alleged links to the Gülen movement, bringing the total number of people detained in first three months of the year to 8,188. Read the full article

38 get life terms in Ankara over 2016 defeated coup

A court in capital Ankara on Thursday handed down life sentences to 38 former Turkish military personnel for their involvement in the 2016 defeated coup, according to a judicial source. 

Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup on July 15, 2016, that martyred 250 people and injured nearly 2,200 others. 

The 18th Criminal Court convicted the 38 military personnel on charges of attempting to overthrow the constitutional order, the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media, said.  The court handed down aggravated life sentences for 11 convicts, while 27 were given life sentences, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said. Read the full article

Warrants out for 79 FETO-linked teachers in Turkey

Arrest warrants were issued for 79 teachers working at Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO)-linked schools, according to the prosecutors' office in Ankara on Tuesday.

Following the warrants, 50 suspects were arrested in an Ankara-based operation. The teachers were working at FETO-linked schools shut down by a decree-law.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup attempt on July 15, 2016, that martyred 250 people and left nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses the group of a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary. Source

Turkish police arrest more than 20 FETO-linked suspects

Police detained 25 people across Turkey on Tuesday for suspected links to Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the group behind the 2016 defeated coup, according to security officials.

In northern Tokat province, 13 FETO-linked terror suspects, including six soldiers, were arrested as part of an investigation into the terror group's secret network within the judiciary, sources said. Also, police arrested six on-duty soldiers in six different provinces as part of the central Usak-based operation over their alleged links to FETO.

Additionally, in central Aksaray province, police arrested five suspects, including two police officers and three businessmen over their alleged links to FETO. In northwestern Canakkale province, a suspect was held on the charge of being a FETO member. Source

Couple sentenced to house arrest in FETO probe

A Turkish court in the southeastern province of Gaziantep on Wednesday sentenced a husband and wife, both former judiciary members, to different prison terms as part of a case linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), according to a judicial source. Former prosecutors Saltuk Bugra Kurt and his wife Derya Kurt were present during the hearing Wednesday, the same source said.

Husband Kurt refused the claims about him and his wife being users of ByLock, an encrypted smartphone messaging app used by FETO members before and during the defeated coup of July 2016 in Turkey.

"My spouse and I have never used ByLock. If we had used this app, there would have to be usernames and messages. I never stayed at FETO’s houses when I was a student, either. Also during my internship, I stayed with my family. I request to be released due to my family's health problems," Saltuk Bugra Kurt said.

The other suspect, Derya Kurt, is alleged to have signed into ByLock nearly 15,000 times, as the report about her states. Wife Kurt also refused the claims against her, saying she had never used the ByLock app and had no ties with the organization. Read the full article

Turkish court remands six senior FETO members

A Turkish court has remanded six senior members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) in custody who were brought back to Turkey from Kosovo by Turkish intelligence, a judicial source said Wednesday. They are accused of “international espionage” as well as “management of a terror organization,” the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media. 

In March, Turkish intelligence officers brought the six senior FETO members back to Turkey following operations against the terror group’s branch in the Balkans, according to security sources. In cooperation with Kosovo’s intelligence agency, Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) arrested the six men, who were said to be in charge of getting FETO members out of Turkey and into Europe and the U.S. alongside their activities in the Balkans.

The group, brought back to Turkey on a private plane, comprises Cihan Ozkan, Kahraman Demirez, Hasan Huseyin Gunakan, Mustafa Erdem, Osman Karakaya and Yusuf Karabina -- all wanted in Turkey as FETO fugitives. Once in Turkey, they were handed over to the judiciary. Source

Turkish police arrest 58 FETO-linked terror suspects

Turkish police on Thursday arrested 58 suspects for their alleged links to Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), security sources said.

The sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, said 34 suspects were arrested after the Chief Public Prosecutors' Office in western Izmir issued arrest warrants for 53 people as part of a probe into the terror group and its suspected infiltration of the country’s military.

The police launched a nationwide operation in order to apprehend the suspects, including on-duty soldiers, who have been accused of being linked to the terrorist group. The suspects are sought across 24 provinces of Turkey.

Meanwhile, some 24 out of 45 suspects were arrested as part of a probe by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutors' Office. Source

Fugitive former prosecutor nabbed over links to FETO

A fugitive former prosecutor who is believed to have links to the group behind last year’s defeated coup was caught in Turkey's northwestern Edirne province while trying to flee to Greece.

Zafer Kilinc had been accused of military espionage and misconduct and he was sought by police in a court case in which he faced up to eight years in prison.

Kilinc, his wife, and two daughters were among a group of suspects when they were held by the security forces in Ipsala district along the Greek border. Source

702 detained in one week over alleged Gülen links

A total of 702 people have been detained in the past week due to alleged links to the faith-based Gülen movement, the Turkish Interior Ministry announced on Monday.

Police detained 20 people, including six women, in four provinces on Sunday as part of investigations into the Gülen movement carried out by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Some 1,034 people, including 274 members of the military, have been taken into custody in the first two weeks of April due to suspected links to the movement, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

One hundred twenty-five of the detainees were arrested by a court on charges of membership in the Gülen movement and placed in pretrial detention.

12 defendants given aggravated life sentences in main coup trial in İstanbul

An İstanbul court on Tuesday handed down aggravated life sentences to 12 defendants including four generals on charges of violating the constitution due to their alleged role in a failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016.

In the latest hearing of the main coup trial in İstanbul at the İstanbul 14th High Criminal Court, defendants Ahmet Gümüş, Eyyüp Gürler, Sadık Cebeci, Nebi Gazneli, Müslüm Kaya, Şakir Çınar, Fethi Alpay, Fatih Karakaya, Özkan Aydoğdu, Mehmet Kapan, Murat Yanık and Ömer Faruk Özköse were given aggravated life sentences. Gülen-linked teacher extradited from Malaysia gets 18-year jail sentence

A high criminal court in the Turkish capital of Ankara has handed down a jail sentence of 18 years to Alaaddin Duman, a teacher who was extradited from Malaysia to Turkey due to his links to the Gülen movement in 2016, on terror charges. Duman was given the jail sentence by the Ankara 15th High Criminal Court on Tuesday on charges of membership in a terrorist organization.

In the final hearing of his trial, Duman denied the terror charges and said he was self-employed in Malaysia and did not use the mobile phone application ByLock, which Turkish authorities say is the top communication tool among followers of the Gülen movement. The Turkish government accuses the Gülen movement of masterminding a failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016. The movement strongly denies any involvement in the failed putsch.

“I did nothing illegal. I am innocent,” said Duman.

The court did not reduce the 18-year jail sentence on the grounds that he did not show any signs of remorse. The indictment says Duman went to Uzbekistan after graduating from Marmara University as a physics teacher in 1993 and returned to Turkey in 2011 and then went to Malaysia, where he stayed until his extradition to Turkey on Oct. 15, 2016. 3,000 active duty officers to be dismissed from military over Gülen links

Turkish Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli on Wednesday said the government has identified 3,000 active duty military officers suspected of links to the Gülen movement and that they will be dismissed with a government decree in the coming days, according to report by online news outlet T24.

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has dismissed 24,977 military members including 150 generals, 4,630 officers, 2,167 noncommissioned officers, 1,210 specialized sergeants, 411 civil servants and workers, and 16,409 cadets immediately after a military coup attempt on July 15, 2016 over alleged links to the Gülen movement.

The government has up until now employed 15,850 military personnel including 1,763 officers, 4,135 noncommissioned officers, 3,698 specialized sergeants, 6,162 contracted privates and 92 civil servants. Read the full article

77,081 people put in pre-trial detention over Gulen links so far: gov’t

At least 77,081 people have been put in pre-trial detention over Gulen links so far, according to Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu.

Speaking during a Tekirdag meeting on Wednesday, Soylu said the total number of people who were arrested over their alleged ties to the Gulen movement between July 15, 2016 and April 11, 2018 is 77,081.

The year 2017 alone saw 20,409 operations by law enforcement across Turkey through which thousands of people were detained and 20,478 of them were subsequently put in pre-trial detention, Soylu said adding 2,706 were arrested following 6,742 operations in 2018.

People who were jailed from July 15, 2016 to the end of that year totalled 53,897, Turkey Purge estimated based on stats by Soylu. Apart from the pre-trial detentions, more than 150,000 people have passed through police custody since the July 15, 2016 failed coup. 18 FETÖ members jailed for killing soldier Halisdemir during coup attempt

The 14th High Criminal Court in the Turkish capital Ankara handed down aggravated life sentences to 18 Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) convicts for their role in the killing of officer Ömer Halisdemir during the July 2016 coup attempt, a judicial source said on April 19. 

Halisdemir was killed on the night of the coup attempt after he shot dead senior coup plotter Brig. Gen. Semih Terzi.

Terzi was shot in the head after he attempted to seize control of the Special Forces Command in Ankara. Pro-coup soldiers later killed Halisdemir. Source

Academic Çalışkan sentenced to 18 months in prison over Gülen propaganda

Associate Professor Koray Çalışkan, who was detained on July 10 as part of an investigation into 20 university academics and later released under house arrest, was sentenced to one year, six months and 22 days in prison for disseminating the propaganda of the faith-based Gülen movement on social media, the pro-government Sabah daily reported.

The ruling was made by the Istanbul 24th High Criminal Court. Source

Turkey probes 4,167 FETÖ suspects living in 110 countries

A total of 4,167 people accused of having links to the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) in 110 countries are being investigated by the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT), a public prosecutor’s office said on April 19.

The information was disclosed by the public prosecutor’s office in a letter to the court requesting that three suspects extradited on April 10 from Gabon by MİT be remanded in custody on charges of managing an armed terrorist organization and international espionage.The letter noted that the Gülen network has presence in 110 countries.

“It has been confirmed that Fethullah Gülen and his group aim to build an elite in Turkey and other countries using its schools and social institutions,” the letter said. Turkish authorities say there are around 135 charter schools, with 45,000 students in the United States, and 165 non-governmental organizations across the world run by the group.

Court arrests three senior FETÖ members

Meanwhile, an Istanbul court arrested three suspected senior members of the group early on April 20 who had been brought to Turkey as part of the intelligence agency’s operation in Gabon, Central Africa.

Osman Özpınar, İbrahim Akbaş and Adnan Demirönal are accused of “international espionage” as well as “managing an armed terror organization,” a judicial source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media. On April 10, Turkish intelligence officers brought the three suspected senior FETÖ members to Turkey following an operation against the group in Gabon. The group was brought to Turkey from the capital Libreville on a private plane.

Warrants issued for 51 over donations to education foundation: 33 detained

Detention warrants were issued for 51 people over their alleged donations to a foundation that has been closed due to its ties to the Gulen movement.

State-run Anadolu news agency said Friday that police carried out operations in 6 provinces as part of an Istanbul-based investigation. 33 people from different occupations were rounded up while police were searching for the remaining 18 at the time of writing.

The suspects are accused of membership to the Gulen movement due to their alleged donations to a higher education foundation, named Türkiye Yüksek Tahsil Gençliği Öğrenim ve İhtisas Vakfı, which was closed down in the aftermath of the July 15, 2016 failed coup. Source

Gülen’s nephew, in pre-trial detention for 20 months, sentenced to 12 years in jail

Fethullah Gülen’s nephew Ahmet Ramiz Gülen was sentenced to 12 years in jail on charges of membership to a terror group.

Under arrest for 20 months in a Gaziantep prison, Ahmet Ramiz was given 12 years of prison term on April 18, 2018. The court overseeing his case ruled to continue his arrest. Source

FETÖ's Gabon trio formally arrested for espionage, terrorism

Three senior figures of the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), which is blamed for the 2016 coup attempt, were remanded in custody days after they were brought from the tiny African country Gabon where they took shelter.After hours of interrogation by a court in Istanbul, Osman Özpınar, İbrahim Akbaş and Adnan Demirönal were formally arrested on charges of running a terrorist group and international espionage.

The trio was arrested in Gabon's capital Libreville and was brought to Turkey on April 10 by security forces. The operation was the latest step in the international manhunt against the group that brought 80 FETÖ suspects to justice after their arrests abroad. All three suspects were being sought by separate arrest warrants issued by Turkish courts on charges of membership to an armed terrorist group. The suspects were detained by Gabonese security forces on March 23.

Convicts receive jail sentences for involvement in July 2016 defeated coup

A court in the central Konya province on Wednesday handed down jail sentences to 342 people linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), for their involvement in the July 2016 defeated coup.

FETÖ and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gülen orchestrated the defeated coup on July 15, 2016, that martyred 250 people and injured nearly 2,200 others.

Ankara also accuses FETÖ of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.

The 9th Criminal Court convicted 332 out of 478 suspects of being members of an armed terrorist organization, a source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media, said. Eight people were convicted of "aiding" a terror group and two others were charged with "managing a terror group". The jail sentences range from 18 months and 22 days to 13 years and six months. Detention warrants issued for 26 more military personnel over alleged Gülen links

The Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday issued detention warrants for 26 military personnel as part of an investigation into the faith-based Gülen movement, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

According to the report, 19 of the 26, including four pilots dismissed from the military following a failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016, have been detained by police in operations across eight provinces, while seven are still at large. Source

22 businessmen, former Bank Asya staff detained over Gülen links

Turkish police on Thursday detained 22 people including businessmen and former Bank Asya staff as part of an investigation launched by the Kastamonu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into the faith-based Gülen movement, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

According to the report, police raided the homes of 22 people in five provinces.

The Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) had taken over management of Bank Asya and assumed control of 63 percent of its privileged shares, enough to name the board, in February 2015. In the aftermath of a coup attempt on July 15, 2016, the government closed down Bank Asya on the grounds that it was linked to the Gülen movement. Source

Ankara prosecutor issues detention warrants for 48 teachers

Detention warrants were issued for a total of 48 teachers as part of an investigation into the Gulen movement, on Friday.

Police carried out operations in 11 provinces to detain the suspects upon the warrants issued by an Ankara prosecutor. The suspected teachers used to work for the schools which were closed down by the government over Gulen links.

Co-owners of Antalya hotel chain jailed in post-coup crackdown

Two co-owners of the Antalya-based Delphin hotels have been put in pretrial detention as part of an investigation into the Gulen movement. Media reported Friday that A.C. and his wife M.C. were arrested mainly on accusations of the membership to the movement.

According to the media, A.C. was a board member of the now-closed Antalya Entrepreneurial Businessmen Association (AGID). He spent 13 days in police custody over similar charges also in 2016.

The other two owners, identified as U.C. and E.G, were briefly detained before being released on judicial control during trial period. Delphin hotels consist of 5 five-star hotels in the resort province of Antalya. Source

5 detained over ByLock use in Turkey’s Kayseri

At least 5 people were detained over their alleged use of ByLock mobile application in Turkey’s central Anatolian province of Kayseri, media reported Friday. A Turkish prosecutor issued detention warrants for a total of 8 people in Kayseri on accusations that they use a smart phone application known as ByLock.

Turkish authorities believe that ByLock is a communication tool among followers of the Gülen movement, accused of mounting the July 15, 2016 failed coup attempt. The movement denies involvement. Source

3 ex-army officers receive life sentences in Turkey

Three former Turkish army officers were given aggravated life sentences on Friday for violating the Constitution during the 2016 defeated coup, a military source said.

Lt. Gen. Metin Iyidil, commander of the Land Forces Training and Doctrine Command (EDOK), EDOK chief staff officers Maj. Gen. Hamza Kocyigit and Lutfu Ihsan Yanikoglu were convicted by Ankara’s 2nd Heavy Penal Court of trying to overthrow Turkey’s constitutional order through violence as part of the coup attempt perpetrated by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media. Turkish chief of general staff a ‘crypto Gülenist’ - secret witness

A secret witness testifying in a trial related to the Turkey’s July 15 coup attempt claimed on that the Turkish Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar is a member of the Gülen movement, a columnist for left nationalist news site odatv said.

Müyesser Yıldız wrote that the secret witness - a former member of the Gülen movement using the code name of 'Abdullah' - on Wednesday claimed that Akar supported the promotion of Gülen movement’s members to senior positions in the military between 2011-2015, when the chief of general staff was Necdet Özel.

In his Wednesday testimony Abdullah also claimed that Akar arranged for students from Gülen movement to be admitted to military schools in 1997, when he served as the executive assistant of the chief of general staff. “Hulusi Akar is a member of the cemaat [Gülen movement]. He is a crypto FETÖ member,” Yıldız quoted Abdullah as saying. Source

Detention warrants issued on Saturday for 103 people over Gülen links

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on Saturday issued detention warrants for 103 people for allegedly organizing marriages between faith-based Gülen movement people, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

According to the report, 63 of the 103 being sought have been detained by police in operations across 36 provinces, while 40 are still at large.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government pursued a crackdown on the Gülen movement following corruption operations in December 2013 in which the inner circle of the government and then-Prime Minister Erdoğan were implicated. Source

15 FETO suspects arrested across Turkey

Fifteen suspects were arrested during anti-terror operations across Turkey for their alleged links to the Fetullah Terror Organization (FETO), the group behind the 2016 defeated coup attempt, according to a judicial source on Monday.

The arrests came after the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for 25 FETO suspects, including ex-colonels and lieutenant colonels, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity said.

As part of its probe into FETO’s “Air Force Command” structure, the suspects have been accused of downloading the FETO terror group’s encrypted messaging app ByLock on their mobile phones. Source

Turkish gov’t detains 10,472 over Gülen links in last four months

The Turkish Interior Ministry announced on Monday that 489 people have been detained in the past week due to alleged links to the faith-based Gülen movement, bringing the total number of people detained in first four months of the year to 10,472.

Detention warrants issued for 25 air force officers over Gülen links

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s offices on Monday issued detention warrants for 25 air force officers of varying ranks as part of an investigation into the faith-based Gülen movement, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

According to the report, 11 of the 25 were dismissed by a state of emergency decree, 12 were suspended and two had previously retired.
Turkey survived a military coup attempt on July 15, 2016 that killed 249 people and wounded more than a thousand others.

Immediately after the putsch, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government along with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pinned the blame on the Gülen movement.

The ruling AKP government dismissed 24,977 military members including 150 generals, 4,630 officers, 2,167 noncommissioned officers, 1,210 specialized sergeants, 411 civil servants and workers, and 16,409 cadets following the failed coup over alleged links to the Gülen movement.
