About Alp Aslandogan

Gulen adviser Aslandogan, who advises Gulen on media issues, said the allegations by the Turkish official were "laughable" and intended to cover up for lax security. (1)

"He said that the United States has a long tradition of democracy and rule of law," said Y. Alp Aslandogan, who sees Gulen about once a week as president of the New York-based Alliance for Shared Values, a group that promotes Gulen's ideas. (2)

Dr. Y. Alp Aslandogan is the President of the Alliance for Shared Values, a non-profit organization serving as a centralized, unified voice for dialogue and cultural organizations associated with the Hizmet movement in the United States. The Alliance is composed of many diverse organizations dedicated to promoting community service, education, and interfaith understanding to elevate humanity and bring greater peace. The Alliance was formed by a group of individuals inspired by the work of Mr. Fethullah Gulen. 

Prior to his current position, Dr. Aslandogan served as the board president of the Institute of Interfaith Dialog in Houston, Texas. In that capacity, he oversaw the organization of the Institute’s academic and grassroots activities around topics such as shared values of humanity, social cognition and conflicts, the art of living together, foundations and methodology of interfaith and intercultural dialogue, and the role of faithful citizens in democracy. Dr. Aslandogan recently co-edited a book entitled, “Muslim Citizens of the Globalized World: Contributions of the Gulen Movement,” published by the Institute of Interfaith Dialog. He is also the co-author of an upcoming book on the history of democracy in Turkey. Dr. Aslandogan is an author and an editor of the Fountain magazine, and a board member of the Journal of Interreligious Dialogue.

Dr. Aslandogan earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and served as a faculty member at the University of Texas at Arlington, and Prairie View A&M University. #3)
